Rasham isn't technically an Iowan though. He plays for the Barnstormers, but he is from Puerto Rico and lives is Vegas most of the year going to Findlay.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting point, and something we considered... but we decided to leave Rasham on, for now. If Harrison Barnes went to a prep school next year instead of Ames (I'm not insinuating that he will, just making the argument), would we stop considering him for the Iowa rankings too?
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know what the right answer is, but he does live in the Iowa during the summer, and he is a heck of a basketball player.
ogelsby is number one in this class no doubt about it the kid is a 6ft5 point guard with range from anyware on the court and has great awareness with great court vision.... i think u need to change that one and two spot around
ReplyDeletei agree about oglesby. hes gotta be #1! idk about montague from linn mar being #17 either!! he didnt even play varsity for linn mar, but shane benton is at #24 and he played varsity for them. hows that work?
ReplyDeletei think guenther and alex malloy should be higher too. they both started for really good teams, and malloy won a state championship.
Maybe Josh Montague did not play varsity this year BUT he did earn all tourney team at the 16 and under State AAU tourney. That is pretty soild. I think Jarrod Uthoff is top ten. The kid plays half the year at varsity and avg's a double double. Not to many other kids at this level did that.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way that Shane Benton is not top 15 in the state of IOWA! Kasey Semler is top 20,
ReplyDeleteBohannon should not be in the top 5
ReplyDeleteno way kasey semler should be top 20--can only shoot...no dribble drive or anthing....without shelby to draw the defense next year semlers numbers will likely drop
ReplyDeleteAgree Bohannon should not be top five very slow needs to work on foot speed and D!
ReplyDeleteGood shooter though
Did anyone see Iowa Preps 2011 player rankings
ReplyDeleteCorey Schaefer is #1 HUH? Sorry he is not even close. I have lost a lot of respect for Luke.
Luke get to the GYM! and open your eyes.
Just a question...why isn't Lincoln Vorba or Jonny Getting on this list?
ReplyDeleteVorba and Getting are on the list "just missed list"
ReplyDeletehow is wes washpun ranked 16????? what a joke he didnt play varsity or anything....thats bad
ReplyDeleteWes is a good player Maybe not top 20! Look at his dad. He started the same way and ended up playing D1.
ReplyDeleteWes has great speed and passing vison along along with tough D! Needs to work on his shot.
Wes is a barnstomer and there seems to be alot of them ranked higher than they should be.
Hmmm?
yeah wes is a good player...but def. not top 20....or maybe even top 25
ReplyDeleteYes both Vorba and Getting are on the "just missed" list but I do belive they deserve to be on the top list. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Jacob Peter the kids clutch and hustles all the time, should at least be 20-30
ReplyDeleteJacob Peter? Are you serious? Who is that?
ReplyDeleteAnyone ever heard of brandon platts
ReplyDeleteMaybe the barnstormers are ranked b/c the site author made an attempt to actually go out and watch games (what a novel concept) and saw the barnstormers win the 16u state tournament. I don't know for sure but I am willing to bet the site author attends the 15, 16, & 17u state tourneys to try to go out and see as many kids as possible unlike other sites. Wes Washpun has a chance to be the best PG in this class when its all said and done only time and work ethic will tell if that will happen, he certainly has the genes for it.
ReplyDeleteTravis Perry at 12??? These rankings must come from the high school season and not the AAU circuit!
ReplyDeleteTravis Perry should be a 12 or 15.
ReplyDeleteIf we are simply considering scoring, then maybe...but if we are talking about the best overall players in the class (scoring, defense, rebounding, assists, etc.) I would take him over probably any of the top 10
ReplyDeleteTravis Perry is a under sized forward and a spot up shooter with questionable defense. He's not a top 10 player
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aware he was a forward...never played that position the games i've seen him in...who from the top ten is a "good" defender?? Seems to me the top 10 is all offense
ReplyDeleteHe's not listed in the top ten by this ranking, but Jonny Getting from Waukee plays great defense. He is usually assigned to guard opponents best player.
ReplyDeleteTravis Perry is definitely not a point guard or shooting guard. Will Perry lead his team to state next year? We all no the answer to that. NO and Getting guarding the opponents best player. Who??? The top 10 is about right although I dont agree with the the order they are in I would add Brandon Voss in the top 10
ReplyDeletePerry played point guard for almost half the season for Urbandale!!! Know your facts before you start saying nonsense. His high school team lost 4 senior starters, so I would assume they would not make it to state next year. Hoover had two top 10 players starting for them last year and they did not make state...if two cannot lead a good team to state, then i would not expect one person to.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Wolterstorff already have 2 state tournament championships on his resume?
ReplyDeleteThere was an article from D1 press blerb recognizing Josh Montague's performance even though he was not playing varsity.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Josh Oglesbly you R top dog in Iowa, plus a big congrats for pulling a offer from UNI!!!!!! Sweet, keep working!
ReplyDeleteKasey Semler will take over where Shebly left off, he will put up some great numbers to show he is worthy of Elite status in this class!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen Reed Mells play? He is a point guard at Grandview Baptist School in Des Moines.
ReplyDeleteI have and he may be the best point guard in Iowa. You will know him next year.
ReplyDeleteZach twedt will be turning many more heads this year.
