where is TJ Priske in this class?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, Priske is still a 2011 player, but you won't find him on this list. He has some potential, and I'm glad to hear he's back on the court again, but he hasn't played much the last two years, and we'll reserve judgement until we see him on the court. Where is he playing next?
ReplyDeletedont really know.. I know hes in the class of 2012 now though.. and from what iv seen so far he should definitely be up there on those rankings
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I'm glad that TJ is playing basketball again, but I've heard of him playing in one tournament... the Iowa 15U State tournament... and have yet to see him play. Lets give him a few months before we start talking about ranking him among the top players in a very deep class who have been consistently producing for several years.
ReplyDeleteIAHOOPS, I have a hard time believing that Marcus Paige is not the number one player in the Class of 2012, He displayed the total package this year without compermizing a powerhouse program , he was able to do what ever was asked of him as player at the high level, if a freshman in this state is able to dominate like he did at the semi-finals in 4A and land him self on the State All Tournament Team, he deserves to hold the spot until he is dethrowned! However, being objective and respecting a post is the direction I'm going in, and let it be known that Wesley is awesome.
ReplyDeleteCan anybody tell me if James Harrington is playing AAU ball this spring and summer? If not, whY?
ReplyDeleteNevermind, I see Harrington is hoopin' with the Barnstormers 15U.
ReplyDeleteis it really true that harrington plays for the barnstormes?
ReplyDeleteYup, he is on the roster. Glad to see it too because the kid is too talented not to be playing spring and summer AAU. It is a good move for him too IMO because he will get more minutes playing point for the Barnstormers.
ReplyDeleteYou know this is going to have to be updated, right? 2012 Top 100 player Trey Boykin has moved from Colorado to Sioux City and is going to be playing at West with Wesley Staten. West is going to have arguably the best back court in the state for the next 3 years. You could easily move Boykin into the top 3 or 4 in 2012.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to James, he is one of the top guards in the state!!!!!! Certainly to good to be on the sidelines.
ReplyDeleteI agree with franchize 24 paige should definitely be number one in this class after what he did this year.
ReplyDeleteStaten is the #1 player in the state, no question in my mind, and I have seen both of them play in person. Staten is just as smooth as Paige, but he is faster and more explosive than Paige.
ReplyDeleteYour absolutely right about Wesley being faster and more explosive, and that makes him just faster and more explosive than Paige, but it doesn't change history, Paige guided his team to State and obtained what no other freshman in 4A has done in quite sometime, lead his team to the State Championship game and make all Tourney, that has nothing to do with being smooth, faster and explosive....it's called being the best at this present time, let the 2012 IAHOOPS poll begin.... Can some put the poll on for this year!
ReplyDeleteWhen surrounded by 3 Division 1 prospects it is not difficult to look talented. We will see if history repeats itself for Paige in 2010 or if he will be exposed as just an average player. Franchise 24 sounds more like a proud parent then anything else...
ReplyDeleteYeah and Paige didn't do it by himself sure he contributed. But he also had Hutchinson half the season and Bohannon.. Now on the other hand staten had to do alot for his team as a Freshman i mean the kid is a straight baller 19.1 points a game led them team in block shot steals and free throws come on now thats enough said..STATEn is number ! and will be for the next three years.
ReplyDeleteIv seen them both play and I think paige is better.. staten is great but i have to give the upper hand to paige he is just so smooth
ReplyDeleteWhat a great conversation... an argument can be made for either Staten or for Paige as the #1 player in this class... heck, it wouldn't be hard to call Casey Kasperbauer the #1 player in the class, and you could back that up pretty well, too.
ReplyDeleteThis age group is incredibly deep, and has a ton of talent... no fewer than 3 teams were led to the Iowa High School State Tournament with freshman starting at point guard (Paige, Harrington, and Kasperbauer), and a fourth PG, Staten, MIGHT be the best of them all. It will be exciting to see how this class turns out, and where they all end up.
Keep the debate going, and keep it clean. We enjoy hearing your comments.
Great class of 2012 and 2011
ReplyDeleteI watched Josh play up in Madison a few weeks ago I think he is the best player in the 2011 class. He looked very smooth and has a D1 jumper now!
As for 2012 I agree Fran 24 Marcus has proved on the national scene and in the state he is by far #1 in his class. I don't know what games these guys are watching but if you were at the state tourney last winter I think you would feel the same.
T.J Priske is in the 2012 class and doing very well. He goes to North Cedar high school and will team up with Jordan Hay and another 6-9 BIG kid first name is Josh. They should compete for the state title for years to come.
Also... Franchise24... send us an email to blog@iahoops.com. I'd like to get your input on something with the site.
ReplyDeleteI would like all to know that being proud has nothing to do with being opinionated, I surely did not say that Marcus Paige did anything by him self, I merely stated that he managed a power house, and yes there are some extremely talented players on his team and he was no where near the best player. And yes I agree that Kasey and Wesley are just as talented for argurement sakes, however if you truley evaluate how important the role of a point guard is then you understand why I say Marcus Paige is number one in his class so far. Oh yeh, Marcus stats are proven fact that he didn't do anything by him self......he may have beeen fourth or fifth option,,,,,,Now that I think about it IAHOOPS your right about Wesley he is number one based on points, assist, steals, and his physical nature, enough said on the topic.
ReplyDeletei hear anthony shaw is good
ReplyDeleteWesley Staten Also Plays up with 17 and under i don't see Paige holding his own in 17 and under.. Staten best point guard hands down!!
ReplyDeleteMarcus Paige played 14U,16U, 17U, Nationals in Florida last year and will probably do so again, by the way did you catch any of those games Mr. Anonymous! I already wave the white flag on Wesley he's the best.....maybe they will cross path this summer or at the State Tournament were it counts , peace!
ReplyDeletethis is an awesome new site!
ReplyDeleteThis debate needs to just stop marcus is number one,and everyone knows it execpt for the blind ones who are haters and obviously we got some haters here. Just stop hatein and appreciate the best.
ReplyDeleteWouldnt that be nice if Iowa State had both of those players on there team!!
ReplyDeleteI would also like to see Marcus team up with Josh O and go to Iowa. They need some help. Lick better jump on these young studs quick.
Has Iowa offered Marcus Yet? They better have
Personally I would like for the in state schools to monitor growth up til there Junior year however, it nice to let the youngesters know they are appreciate and being watch for potential, other wise they will pack up and leave the state. I love the new look of the site and I like sharing my opinion without trashing the young players we are giving are point of view on........haters are haters heck every now and then I hate but I still particpate!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that not agreeing that Paige is number one in the state would get a person labeled as a "hater" but OK. Frankly, I am not quite sure who is number one. One thing to consider, Michael Jordan didn't play varsity as a freshman or sophomore nor was he ranked anywhere near number one. We all know it worked out for him in the end... didn't it. A person probably shouldn't get caught up in rankings too much. There are alot of talented young men on the list and that is a great thing for basketball in the state of Iowa. Show EVERYBODY some love...
ReplyDeleteBruxvoort deserves to be in the top of the list and not in the 'mention'. He was MVP All Tournament team for State 9th grade tournament. List is a little too Guard heavy
ReplyDeleteA players game on the court speaks for itself when others are talking about his game....not just his dad.
ReplyDeleteHow did the Iowa AAU teams do at this past weekend's tournaments? What players contributed to their team's success?
The All Iowa Attack 15U won the String Music Showcase in Nashville, TN.
ReplyDeletei give it too you paige and staten are incredible players!!! but i personally like the way paige plays he knows what every thing is happening on the court!! and he is just so smooth!! if i was his age a i would rather wnat him as i teammate then staten!! but i think moore should be in the top five i have watched him this whole season!! and he went from being a average player to a great player! i love his game he doesnt care about himself he works to get everyone else open! he didnt do much tis year but look who he had his bro, derby, washpun, and amelon!!! but ii saw what he could do against cedar falls!! he just let off with like 15 points!! but him and paige run that martin bros 15u team!! with them two no one can stop them!!
ReplyDeleteDwight may be a litle over rated I watched him play this spring pretty small has troule playing with taller players.
ReplyDeleteStaten should be playing up. He is older than all of the other freshman. He turns 17 this year. Who is he running with this year?
ReplyDeleteare you sure he'll be 17, becuase if he is then he should be rated with the 17's not fifthteen to be 16's, but who cares as long he got game , right!!!!!In the 2012 Class they are ranked on thier skills and athleticism? (add spell check to site please)if a kid is soon to be 17 then he should the number one in his class, makes a lot of sense if this is true. he skill is awesome.
ReplyDeleteDwight shouldnt even be in the top 20 maybe not even ranked at all he is way to small and has tons of trouble with bigger defenders... i dont see how u could put him at # 6 that is just a joke to me
ReplyDeleteyeah he is going to 17 this year!!!! so he should bettter than everyone else!! but i still think moore and paige are way bettter than staten!! they have way more talent that him!
ReplyDeletewhat about moore i have heard great things about this kid? and this kid is young for his grade!! if you put him in the grade he is surpose to be in he would be beast!!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of comments about "age", but lets get real, guys... this is more common now than ever before, and not just with Staten, and not just in this age group. Kids get held back or start late regularly, and it is the parent's choice, not the kid's. OJ Mayo was nearly 20 when he graduated high school, but he was still one of the top players in his class, regardless. No matter what you say, Staten (and any other kid that is a little older) will graduate in the same class at Paige, Woodbury, etc. So... he should be listed in the same graduating class rankings.
ReplyDeletesame thing about Moore. if he's young for his grade, great... but who cares, hes in the same grade. unless you want the guy that runs this site to collect birth certificates for everyone that is ranked, lets drop the whole birthday discussion. they're all in the same class.
ReplyDeleteIt's way more immpressive for 14 year old Freshman to be doing well than a 16 year old Freshman. 2 years at this age is HUGE.
ReplyDeletedo you think tayshaun is good?
ReplyDeleteTayshaun has improved greatly. Im really liking his jumps shot now. A few years ago I was not so high on that part of his game. But I have been very impressed. His combo guard skills have came a long way.
ReplyDeleteWho is all playing in the AMES toruney next week 5/16-5/17 from the state of Iowa.
ReplyDeletetayshaun? combo guard??? haha hes like 5 foot 3!! kid needs to learn how to play the point and share the ball!
ReplyDeleteWatched Tayshaun and Olson play for the Barnstormers recently. Neither player sees the court well and do not look for their teammates. There is not a balanced in/out game with them leading the court as guards. Dribble shoot dribble shoot is all these guards know how to do these days. 5 players on the court not just 1.
ReplyDeleteTrey Sathoff is Jordan's Lil' bro? He will definitely be one to watch...
ReplyDeletegtmo
Man you guys are harsh. I said tay has improved his game in the past few years and you may be right he needs to share the ball. Now Tyler is a much bigger guard that does have major talent. But you may be right they need to share the ball more. Tay did have a nice tourney at the 15 and under state as well.
ReplyDeleteMoore needs to get a jump shot. Its great being a team player but you got to be able to score some as well. Plays way to hesitant.
ReplyDeleteage does have alot to do with it there are alot of kids out there playing like 14u or even 15u are 2yrs older just held back in grades that does make a huge difference they should be doing good their going against younger kids
ReplyDeletewell is was just down watching the run and slam tournament this past weekend and moore didnt look to hesitant then when they need to score he came up big!! that kid has the scoring ablity and i say it with my own eyes!! and if his bro has anything to do with it he will turn him into a real scorer!!
ReplyDeleteyeah its just amazing that the youngest kid in this class is just one of the best!!! and why does he need a shot, when no one can stop him going to the rim? but i have seen him take shots and make them!! now this kid is the real deal best kid in his class give him another year or by the end of the year.
ReplyDeletewow get off moores nuts. he cant hold marcus paiges jockstrap.
ReplyDeleteHey just wondering... For the guy who said that they had been watching Moore all season... Was that before or after his several suspensions for academics? Frankly, we didn't see enough of him for him to be ranked at all. We will see next year (if he stays eligible) what he can do.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if Iowa City "players" would stop hyping themselves up on this site. We know who you are - young lil hawk! All you are doing is embarassing yourself. Use the site for feedback not self promotion (for those that don't understand - that means making yourself seem better than you are).
ReplyDeleteYeah! Get off the site and pick up a dictionary. Please!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Burnham kid should be in at least the top 15 he is being recruited by D1 schools and he has gotten an offer from Iowa, he's no longer at Assumption he transfered to Central one to check out is a beast in the paint
ReplyDeleteok... parents and players in 2012 are borderline nuts. i suppose you want marcus paige on the front page on the top 20 players in the last 20 years, right?? or wait, maybe wesley staten?? hell, put burnham on there too. and jerel moore.
ReplyDeleteburnham has an offer from iowa? an offer to do what? they offered him to attend camp? if its a scholarship, then lickliter needs to go. immediately. get real people.
your right burnham is tough in the paint I saw him play this year at swish n dish 16u he always plays up with 16 and 17u I already knew Iowa was recruiting him hell you could see him right behind bench at the games doesn't surprise me he was a starter on his varsity team as a freshmen
ReplyDeletewhat team he play with I could use him this weekend
ReplyDeleteyeah i conpletely agree with you on the moore thing!! he does have his priorities right!! and this is coming from the guy that saw all 11 or 12 of his games!! (no his dad) he doesnt have a dad cares like this!! but this kid is amazing came see im on mbs!! the only kids that hype there selfs up in ic is anthiny shaw adn jeremy johnson!! some need tolet their game talk!!
ReplyDeletespell check please jerel your not helping yourself here. All these kids need to let their games speak for themselves and as someone else stated stop coming on her promoting themselves and hating on others. All the young talented athletes in 2012 are working hard on their skills and rankings at this age mean nothing they will continue to change as kids games develop OR level off over the years to come.
ReplyDeleteI"m glad somebody else said it. We all know and everyone I talk to knows that Jerel moore posts comments about himself and continues to put others in his class down in an attempt to make himself look better. Jerel, you have great potential as a player but PLEASE stop making yourself look like an idiot by putting over the top, ridiculously complimentary comments about your game (and mispelling them). Let other people talk about you. Please. And don't get back on here and say it's not you. That will make you look more stupid. Just let it go. double exclamation point(!!)
ReplyDeleteIt was on Hawkeye Report that Adam Woodbury is visiting Iowa next week. Woodbury is 6'10" post that plays for Sioux City East and Martin Brothers 15U Teams. Martin Brothers 15U now has Woodbury, Gesell and Paige with D1 colleges recruiting them. You can't coach height! Congratulations Adam Woodbury. Keep working out in the weight room.
ReplyDeleteI hope Jerel is not cutting down his teamates. I would think he would be smarter than that. Bottom line is he is a average player on a great team. He gets a lot of open looks due to the other top players (Paige) (Gesell) (Woodbury) attract the top defenders.
ReplyDeleteNEXT SUBJECT
Where do the MARTIN BROTHERS 15u play this weekend?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMartin Brothers 15U won the Rumble in the Broncs New York for the second year in a row, Mike Gesell was voted MVP
ReplyDeleteReading your posts for 1st time I can't believe how negative most people/posts are: age, skills, grades, spelling, or simple just running down a bunch of talented kids. Let try to post the positives and promote this 2012 class after all its likely the most talented basketball class ever in Iowa.......
ReplyDeletehey when will we see some 2013 rankings?

Did the 2012 Class have changes as there were some great hoops played all summer.
ReplyDeleteHarrington and Paige make the other players around them better. That is why their teams made it to state. The next player to do the same for his team might be Connor Coleman. He makes his teammates better when he is on the floor.
ReplyDeleteHot off the ESPNU Press, Marcus Paige is number 17 on the ESPNU terrific 25 for class 2012 which was updated 8/17/09 on ESPN.
ReplyDeletewheres cole pederson from waukee? come on, if u put jordan stotts on here, u have to have pederson
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kale Abrahamsom for getting his first real offer from UNI.
ReplyDeleteWhat is status of Nick Appleget? Was once one of the Barnstormers most solid players. Haven't seen or heard about him in a while.
ReplyDeleteAppleget blew out his ACL last game of freshmen football season. Didn't play basketball his freshmen year but made it back for summer baseball. Blew out his ACL again in fall baseball so out again his sophomore basketball season.
